HONEY I SHRUNK THE CLASS!!!!!!
Ms. O’Donoghue’s class have been exploring minibeasts. They started using magnifying glasses and looking at pretend insects, then they went outside and collected real ones. We found worms, fat pigs, snails and spiders. Ms. O’Donoghue then used her “magic shrinking spray” and made all her class into miniture size. We were talking about all the things we would do outside if we were small as bugs. Suggestions included swimming in rain puddle swimming pools and eating giant leaves for dinner!

Junior Infants were learning all about counting, so we thought with the fine weather we had on Monday, we decided to count the traffic. The road was very busy so we had a lot of counting to do.
Junior Infants were doing food in Aistear, so we decided to go do some shopping in our local Lidl. We bought things to make pizzas and ice lollies. We took a quick break in the park before the big walk back to school.
Ms. Walsh’s Junior Infants planting cress, chives and strawberries. We had great fun. We hope to have plenty of sunshine for them to grow.
Both Junior Infant classes went on a Spring walk on Monday. We were looking for any sign of Spring. We saw lots of flowers, birds, trees and we even saw a nest. We had great fun.

Junior Infants 2015/2016: Teachers: Ms. Walsh & Ms. O’Donoghue
This week we are learning the sounds c and k. We are also learning all about the number 1 and how to form it. On Wednesday we had a very special guest to our classroom- Louise the lollipop lady. She told us all about her job and about road safety and how to cross the road properly. We even got to practice with her outside. She also gave us all high vis jackets to bring home and wear to stay safe and be seen when we are walking. She gave us lollipops because we were so good!! We also did a song and dance about the safe cross code.
This weeks colour of the week is green. We are also learning the nursery rhyme “Hey Diddle Diddle”.
Here is our blue table from last week.
Last week cheeky monkey our class pet set us a challenge, he hid sounds all over the room and we had to find them. We then had to get into groups and say the sounds – we had lots of fun!! So far we have learned the sounds s, a , t, i, p.
Below are some pictures of us playing with some toys. Toys are not only fun, they also are fantastic for developing our fine motor skills which helps us to hold our pencils properly and do good writing. Play also provides us with an opportunity to communicate with and learn how to share and work together with our friends! We have been practising our patterns on peg boards. We also had great fun practising our “froggy legs” pencil grip by hanging out the washing (see pictures below)
We have been very busy in maths learning our numbers and colours- This weeks colour of the week is red!
This is us on our first day of school!!
